My name is Jo and it is my pleasure to share my honest travelling experiences with you.
I was born in Poland; lived in South Africa for all my schooling; including university and moved around for work.
After backpacking in New Zealand and Australia for a few weeks after finishing high school, I came home and declared that “One day I would move to New Zealand and marry myself a sheep farmer! “. Yet to find that sheep farmer 🙂 … but I did live and work in New Zealand for a couple of years.
In 2013 I moved to Australia, where I lived for 5 1/2 years.
I have continued working in my field- as a mining engineer- and hence the name of my blog :).
In the times I took leave… always had a sensation of wanting to do more and travel longer. In September 2018 I quit my job and travelled for 18 months – until Covid hit.
I then took a casual job which allowed me to work for 8-9 months of the year and travel for the rest. This blog also captures those adventures.
Five years after my first “early retirement” I’m taking another 18 months or so to travel- mainly road tripping around Australia and also having a visit with the family in Europe.
