It was good timing in terms of packing up, as it just started to drizzle when I finished. The dark storm clouds chased me all the way down the coast to Newcastle.
I managed to be able to convince the nice reception lady at the caravan park to let me pitch my tent at 10am … to have it up before the rain probably came down !
Success!
I walked down the breakaway and then to the wharf to catch the ferry from Stockton to Newcastle. I managed just over an hour of walking around the city before the rain came down.
I enjoyed all the old architecture up and down the streets . There are still several terraces that are restored as I noted while I hauled myself up a steep hill. It was worth it -to get up to the Anglican Cathedral – which is rather magnificent.
After several hours of walking around I headed back to the other side via the ferry.
Did a cook up in the camp kitchen … attempt nr 8 at a cook top that worked though !!
Glad I did that early as heathen children overtook the place later.
