Headed to free camp in McNmara Park in Broke . It wasn’t very busy at all and has toilets. This was my base to explore Hunter Valley vineyards.
On the way I stopped by a winery in Wollomombi, but it was closed …despite a sign saying the opposite.
Then drove in to Winmark …more for its art gallery, sculpture trail then wine. Interesting pieces as usual .
Before setting up camp I stopped by and did a tasting in Nightingale Wines. I actually got a bottle of Verdelho – an easy drinking white wine . I had never had this variety before .
In the afternoon I called up a couple of companies to see if they could pick me up for a wine tour the next day – a Thursday – and I found one ! yeah!

As I hoped to explore Wollemi and Yengo National Parks I noticed that nearly all trails in the park were 4WD only. I thus got hold of a local 4WD club to see if it was at all possible to join them on any outings on the weekend -but unfortunately none were planned . Two of the guys from the club did get hold of me however and provided a lot of good local info- which was super of them!!
